The main uses of flat steel are as follows. First, flat steel is used as a raw material for processing steel plates, which is convenient for transportation, takes up a small space, and can save transportation costs. Second, S960QL hardness flat steel can be used as raw material for processing welded pipes. Flat steel can be a finished steel product, or it can be used as a billet for welded pipes and thin slabs for stacked sheets. Third, flat steel can be directly used as a steel structure. As a finished material, flat steel can be used for making hoop iron, tools and mechanical parts, and used as building frame structure and escalator in construction. Fourth, the flat steel has a smooth surface and a certain degree of beauty.
EN 10025-2 is standard for hot rolled products of structural steels. EN 10025-2 steel grades are S960QL hardness, S235JR, S235J0, S235J2 (S235 series); S275JR, S275J0, S275J2 (S275 series); S355JR, S355J0, S355J2, S355K2 (S355 series); and S450J0. The numbers 235, 275, 355, 450 indicates the min. yield strength for thickness ≤16mm. For example, when the thickness ≤16mm, the min. yield strength for S235 series steel is 235Mpa, S275 series steel is 275Mpa, S355 series steel is 355Mpa, and S450J0 steel is 450Mpa.
Punchability refers to the performance of metal without cracks and other defects after stamping deformation. Many steel products are manufactured through a stamping process. In order to ensure the quality of the products and the smooth progress of the process, the S960QL hardness, steel plates and strips used for stamping must have qualified stamping performance.
