ASTM A36 is a common mild steel(carbon structure steel grade). It is widely used in morden industry owning to its cheapest rolling cost and easiest welding. EN S460ML steel plate, ASTM A36 mild steel is equivalent to grade Q235B under Chinese steel standard, grade S235JR under European steel standard EN 10025-2, grade SS400 in Japanese steel standard. These mild steel plates and sections are commonly bolted and riveted in structural applications.

The quality grade symbols of Q235 steel plate are A, B, C and D respectively. Different grades represent different impact temperatures. EN S460ML steel plate, Q235A is not required for impact toughness test; Q235B is required for impact toughness test at room temperature (20 ℃); Q235C is required for impact toughness test at 0 ℃; Q235D is required for impact toughness test at - 20 ℃. For the above-mentioned B, C and D grade steels, Akv ≥27J is required under different temperature requirements. At different impact temperature, the impact value is also different.
